John E. McIntyre was the assistant managing editor for the copy desk at The Baltimore Sun and a language blogger. He holds degrees in English from Michigan State University and Syracuse University and was a charter member and two-term president of the American Copy Editors Society.[1] McIntyre was also a professor of journalism at Loyola College in Maryland. He maintains a blog called "You Don't Say" on the Baltimore Sun website, discussing a variety of topics including grammar usage, journalism, and copy editing.
On April 29, 2009, McIntyre was laid off by The Sun.[2] He was rehired a year later to serve as the newspaper's Night Content Production Manager.[3]
As of June 19, 2010 he was referred to by the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland as The Rev. John McIntyre. The details of his ordination, however, remain in dispute.
